We are so excited over at Thread Faction HQ to be introducing you to our newest ladies pattern The #203 Ladies sport skort, but I also thought it was time for a new FREE pattern, so today’s post is a 2 for 1 deal 🙂
First up, the #203 Ladies sports skort. This has been a long term project of mine, I made the first draft way back in 2016, but it was put on the back-burner while I focused on kids patterns. Well not any more, the #203 Ladies sports skort is here, and it is awesome (even if I do say so myself 🙂 ).
Here is the official blurb:
#203 is a knit sewing pattern for a Ladies sports skort in sizes XXS to XXL. The pattern includes 5 skirt style options; a straight skirt, a pleated skirt, a flounce skirt, a flat front/flounce back skirt and a flat front/pleated back skirt. All skirt styles include a yoke and an optional back zippered pocket. All versions are mid rise, with an elastic waistband. The included shorts have 2 inseam lengths. The skirts and shorts are finished with simple hems.
Unofficially, I just love it and have 5, one for each morning walk. Great for tennis or running, and you can even make some cute swimmers bottoms with it.

Right, now on with the free stuff!
So, you have got to have something to wear with your sports skort right?
Well with a skort, or with your jeans (like the ones I sewed up) I have got you covered with our new FREE pattern, the Ladies Semi Fitted Tank.
This is a great basic ladies tank pattern in sizes XXS to XXL. The sleeves and neckline are finished with beginner friendly binding and the bottom is finished with a simple hem.
So let’s get into it.
You will need:
- FREE Ladies Semi Fitted Tank pattern (or alternative).

- Enough knit fabric to cut your pieces from (amount varies with size).
- Coordinating thread.
How to put it all together:
- Cut all your pattern pieces from your fabric, then place the front and back tank pieces together with right sides facing and serge/sew the side and shoulder seams with a 1 cm (3/8″) seam allowance and a stretch stitch.
- Prepare your binding pieces by pressing over 1cm (3/8″) along one long side of each piece.
- Unfold the pressed edge, then fold each of your binding pieces in half with right sides facing and sew/serge the short ends together with a 1 cm (3/8″) seam allowance.
- Starting with one armhole, divide the binding piece into quarters, and mark each quarter with a pin. Repeat the process with the armhole opening, marking each quarter point with a pin. With the tank right side out, insert the binding into the armhole opening, with the right side of the binding against the wrong side of the main fabric.
- Match up the quarter marks, and align the raw edge of the tank with the unfolded edge of the binding. Sew/serge the seam using a 1 cm (3/8″) seam allowance and a stretch stitch. Flip the binding outwards, and press both the binding and the seam allowance away from the main tank.
- Take the pressed edge of the binding and fold it over to cover the seam allowance and stitch line. Topstitch the binding in place using a twin needle or other stretch stitch option.
- Repeat steps 4 – 6 for the other armhole and neckline bindings.
- Fold under and press 1 .5cm (5/8″) along the bottom hemline and sew using a twin needle or other stretch stitch option.
