File to fabric sewing – How to go paperless at home now!

For a couple of years now there has been talk of brilliant new gizmos that can project your sewing patterns directly onto your fabric so that you can skip all the printing and taping, cutting and tracing and go straight from digital pattern to fabric.

This is such a great idea but, but I haven’t been able to find any of these systems available to the public yet (although I believe there is at least one on the way soon). But I am impatient. A couple of weeks ago, this got me to thinking…

Is there anything already on the market that would work?? Could I rig something up or put something together to achieve the same goal? And I cannot believe how successful it has been.

This set up is super small and easy to pack away into a drawer, it is sleek and pretty. It will work with any designers pattern as long as they offer A0 files. It can do layers, rotating pattern pieces, light or dark line colours. It works in a light room, is cordless and the battery lasts for up to 2 hours.

As you can probably imagine this is not a budget solution, and you can check out the price of this guy in your local currency by clicking on the links at the bottom of the page, but that brings me to what I think is one of the best parts of this set up, this is not an exclusively sewing related gadget.

This is a short throw laser projector that can be used to watch movies on the wall or take camping for movie night out in the wild, used for work presentations the lot, not just in the sewing room. Does that make it worth the price? Well that is something that you will have to look at for yourself but I absolutely love it.

As usual thanks for reading, and if you you have something like this set up for your patterns, be sure to take some pics, hashtag them #Sew4bub and show us what you’ve got! we would love to see.
