It is late spring here and daily temps are ranging from about 28 to 32 degrees Celsius, so my daughters skirt obsession is not a problem. She has a mixture of mum made skorts (from our Hoola Hooper Skort) and skirts, that are affectionately known around here as fru fru skirts (think tulle). She is a happy girl.
At the start of winter though, it was a different story. Each morning I would insist that my daughter wear something practical and warm to daycare, and each morning she would respond with floods of tears insisting on a dress or skirt and a hand knitted cardigan.
I gave in and purchased more knit cardigans for daycare, but we managed to come to a compromise on the skirts/dresses.
I put together what I am calling Skeggings (skorts with leggings). These have served us wonderfully all throughout the winter (it doesn’t get very cold here) so I thought I would share.
The Hoola Hooper Skort does not come with an option for leggings so I have drafted one that you can use with the Hoola Hooper Skort, but it is also a great legging pattern in it’s own right. So if you don’t have a go to legging pattern you are in luck.
Here are a few tester pics of the leggings, some with the skirt and some without:

If you make some leggings or skeggings, be sure to grab some pics and hashtag them #sew4bub I would love to see your creations!
As always, thanks for reading.

Liz, I would love to try your skeggings pattern but the url to it from the newsletter is linking to a leggings pattern #004 (not skirt + leggings). Am I missing something?
Hi Lida, The leggings from this post are the #004 leggings the skirt is from the #106 Skort pattern available on our site threadfaction.com. The two patterns are fully compatible.
I’d love to try the skeggings but I am getting a “404 link not found” message 😦
Hey Catt, the links are all fixed, thanks for letting me know 🙂
Skeggings pattern looks great – looking forward to trying it out. I’m getting the same 404 message when clicking on the link for the Spring/Summer 2016 collection though.
Hi, Liz. Thank you for this! I can’t seem to find the tutorial though. With your other free patterns, the tutorial is in the blog post, but I’ve looked around and can’t seem to find it. Thanks for any help. 🙂
Hey there,
The instructions are in the pattern for this one – diagrams and everything 🙂
Cheers – Liz
Thank you, Liz, I thought it was going to be the same as the others! Sorry. 😀
Greetings
Where is the skeggings pattern for adults? I found the skorts pattern but cant find the pattern with leggings.
Hey boomertraveltips, I am sorry we don’t have a skegging pattern for adults, just the skorts.
I am trying to download the skort but I get a 404 message. Is this no longer available?
